Flower Pot Cake

An edible flower pot that's great as a gift, especially for Mother's Day! This dessert was given and demonstrated by our friend Suzzy Czarnecki!

Ingredients

Pound Cake
1 package of Oreo cookies
2  half-gallon containers of ice cream - two flavors that taste good together
1 gummy worm for each flower pot
1 butterfly sucker for each flower pot
Chocolate rocks (Bear Mountain Trading Co. or North Pole Fudge Co)
Small terra cotta flower pot for each person
One straw for each pot (Cut to the height of the pot)
Fresh cut flower of your choice

Flower Pot Cake

Technique

Wash and sanitize flower pots in the dishwasher.
Cut frozen pound cake into 1 to 1 1/2 inch slices.  With a biscuit cutter that fits the size of the bottom of the flower pot, cut the pound cake slices into rounds.

Drop a round of pound cake into each clean flower pot making sure it goes all the way to the bottom of the pot.  Place straw in the center of the pot and anchor it into the cake.

Soften the ice cream in the microwave for 20 seconds. Spoon enough ice cream to fill 1/2 of the pot and place your gummy worm in the pot and place the other flavor of ice cream on top working it around the straw.  Clean the top edge of the pot with a damp paper towel.

Place flower pots into the freezer.  When the ice cream is nice a firm, it is ready to serve.  Place the butterfly sucker into the ice cream and spoon crushed Oreo bits on top of the ice cream (for dirt).  Sprinkle candy rocks on top of the Oreo dirt.  
Place fresh flowers into the straw and serve!
